The Opposites Tool™

The final tool on the Workbench page is called the Opposites Tool™. Our focus is on the bottommost layer of a client (a profile), which offers an important understanding of what types of characteristics or traits will be missing as the person performs tasks. The Opposites Tool™ underscores the ideology that you cannot put in what was left out — meaning, to set expectations around a skill deficiency will only create an unnatural state of functioning for the individual. It gives you insight into areas your client might want to avoid, let others handle, or require training to strengthen if the situation calls for it.

In Jack's case, he is not fiercely independent in his thinking. Processing details is not a strong suit. He'll likely be less welcoming or considerate of views that differ from his own. If these qualities are critical for the role/job success, knowing in-advance where Jack is most likely to be challenged is invaluable information for those who plan/lead/train/ or manage the teams and projects on which he participates.
